Compagnia "Tribal Jazz"
Tribal Jazz was founded by a dance teacher and choreographer, Tiziana Persichetti Auteri at Rome CUS (University Sports Centre) in 1993. Since 1999 it has been located with the Theatre “Piccolo di Pietralata” (previously known as ”Neverland”) in Rome. The company activity is based on a deep exploration of connections between African dance and rites on one side and jazz on the other, which led to the creation of a extremely innovative style of dance, mirrored by its name: Tribal Jazz. Some members have belonged to the company from the very beginning and represent its very core: Antonella Massimini, Monia Marinelli, Graziana Abbate, Alessandra Bartoloni, Monica Napoli and Antonio Tiberini; all of them are expert teachers and choreographers. Moreover, the Company has cooperated with Michele Simone, a musician, Federico Ferrandina, and Giuliano Crupi, actors like Alessandro Londei, Marco Strozzi, Mauro Machelli, Luisa Graneri, Brunella Caronti, Soprano Erica Realino and a well-known author, Serena Damiani. Over the last years 6 original productions were performed: "Ngocattà", "Luoghi dell'anima", "Traballando", "La Classe non è acqua" and "La vita della morte", "Il Prediletto”, allo of them characterized by the idea of merging different artistic expressions, that is dance, theatre and music. In 1995 “Traballando” was awarded a prestigious prize for its “originality” on the occasion of the exhibition “Budding Young Artists”, presided by Aldo Nicolai. As of 2001 the Company has been involved in exhibitions of a social nature with choreographies and musical pieces; in this regard, mention should be made of the Exhibition “University Students in Motion” in favour of school scholarship promoted by ANIA (Association of Love Nomads) and “Gioie Inattese” in favour of home care “La Casa della mamma” in Rome. As of 2004 the Company has cooperated with the Association “Lo spettacolo continua” (Show will go on) directed by Alessandro Londei, staging choreographies of the piece “Beatrice Cenci” and the musical “Io, Arturo”. In 2008 and March 2010 two lab-shows were produced, based on stage improvisation and speaking expressions linked to dance and movement, entitled “Gonne senza donne” and “Chissà chi lo sa”, respectively. Presently the Company is working on a new project to be performed in Autumn 2011, temporarily entitled: “I sospiri del tempo”.
